March 14, 2020
Dear First Tee of Orange County Families,
Mother nature is making it difficult for us to complete the Winter session as planned. After discussions with Dad Miller Golf Course and our other locations in the county, we are canceling the remaining Winter classes that would otherwise be completed next Saturday, March 21. The coaches will be completing their player assessments for Winter session. As always, the recommended level assessment will be posted on our website in the programming area and the coaches will follow up with each of you as to what class to sign up your player for next session.
In addition, we are approaching the schedule for the next Spring session cautiously given the ever-changing nature of the current situation involving the novel coronavirus (COVID-19). Registration for the Spring session will open as scheduled on March 23 with a start date of April 6. But in light of yesterday’s national emergency declaration by the President of the U.S., guidance issued by California Governor Gavin Newsom, the Orange County Health Care Agency, and the decisions made by the school districts and private schools in Orange County, we ask that you remain flexible and patient in the event that the Spring session has to be pushed to another start date. The situation is fluid and could change as we all understand our new normal.
We want to assure you that we are monitoring it very closely and working with both the Home Office of First Tee and local authorities. Participant safety has always been a top priority in all aspects of our programs at First Tee and we remain committed to providing a safe and healthy learning environment for them as well as a safe place to work for our employees. We will ensure that best practices for cleaning and sanitizing of all public areas are being followed. Our staff, coaches, and volunteers will remain vigilant, practicing good hygiene and social distancing, and we are encouraging others involved to do the same. If a determination is made that we will not be able to adequately meet the needs of our community and adjustments need to be made to our spring schedule, then we will be sure to notify all those impacted.
Thank you for your patience and understanding. We look forward to seeing you out on the golf course again soon!
Please feel free to reach out with any comments or questions.
